Why do we love what we do? One thing we hear over and over is that “they don’t build them like they used to” and “you can’t beat the character of an old building.”

Or, to say it another way, we love wabi-sabi.

Wabi-sabi is a Japanese concept that celebrates authenticity and finds beauty in the patina of age. We appreciate the individuality and interest that comes with use; the textures, colors, and shapes that fluctuate over time.

These walls on a recent project are a perfect example. They could have been covered with drywall or scraped and painted, but we love that they were left in their beautifully imperfect condition.
